Fence installation in Mapleton
Local know-how
Mapleton sits at the foot of Maple Mountain, east of Springville, and is known for larger lots, a quieter rural feel and room between homes. Deer come down from the foothills often enough that the city’s code has its own rule for deer fencing.
On a larger lot, vinyl ranch rail marks a long boundary without closing it in, and a 6 ft vinyl privacy fence or Trex composite fence gives the backyard full privacy. Mapleton keeps front and side yards to 3 ft solid or 5 ft open, so a 4 ft ornamental steel fence fits out front.
Before you pick a style, here is what Mapleton allows.
Fence rules in Mapleton
Know before you build
-
In the required front and side yards: 3 ft for solid fences, 5 ft for fences at least 50% open. No chain link in the front yard.
-
Rear yard, measured from the front edge of the house back: up to 6 ft.
-
Deer fencing in a rear yard can reach 8 ft, as long as everything above 6 ft is at least 50% open.
-
Clear sight triangles: 30 ft at street intersections, 15 ft at driveways and alleys.
-
Where a sidewalk or paved trail runs alongside, the fence sits at least 12 in back from it.
Permits
Mapleton’s fencing standards don’t list a permit for a standard residential fence. We confirm with the city for your lot before we build.
What it means for your fence
A 6 ft privacy fence fits from the front edge of your house back. Out front, a 4 ft ornamental steel fence is open, so it sits under the 5 ft limit for see-through fences. Leave 12 in between the fence and any sidewalk.
Source: Mapleton City Code §18.84.130 (amended March 2025). Checked October 16, 2026. Codes change and HOAs can be stricter. We confirm the rules for your lot at your free estimate.

Narrow it down in three questions
-
How much do you want to see through it? For full privacy, choose vinyl, Fence Trac or Trex. To keep the view, choose ornamental steel or semi-privacy vinyl.
-
What look is your home and street? Match the style tag: Transitional, Classic, Modern or Traditional. We design to your HOA’s guidelines too.
-
How little upkeep do you want? Vinyl just needs a rinse. Ornamental steel, Fence Trac and Trex never need stain or paint.

What neighbors say
In their words
"Atlas did a phenomenal job on our black 4 ft metal fencing! Our yard was not just a square to work with. We have different levels of cinder block retaining walls that are curved… Tyson went above and beyond to make the necessary alterations to make everything fit seamlessly and it turned out better than we could have expected!"
"Tyson was on the ball and communicated professionally and often. Every other fencing company we looked at ghosted us, or was flaky. Highly recommend!"
"Atlas did a FANTASTIC job on our fence. The customer service and communication was excellent. Very professional, and wonderful work!"
